On August 5, Otemachi Toastmasters Club met at St. Luke’s Garden Tower and online for a vibrant evening of learning, inspiration, and connection!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

🎊 Induction Ceremony & Welcome Back
We proudly inducted our newest member, Kanmani Govindasamy, an experienced educator and active volunteer whose motto is “Learning, Leading, and Serving.” Kanmani was assigned her mentor, Kozue, and even stepped up as Word of the Evening for her very first role! We were also thrilled to welcome Takako back to the stage in good health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

☀️ Meeting Theme: “Health is Wealth!”
Toastmaster of the Evening Joju set an energetic tone, reminding us that while our time has limits, our enthusiasm tonight does not!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

💡 Word of the Evening: “Vitality”
TM Kanmani introduced “Vitality” (the state of being strong, healthy, and energetic), a perfect fit for the night’s theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

🎤 Table Topics \u2013 “If you were Prime Minister, what new holiday would you create?”
Table Topics Master Noritama challenged speakers to invent a new national holiday:
Mat: May 19 \u2014 Wife’s Day (a day off from housework).
Takako: February 2 \u2014 Cat Paw Day.
Daseul: A national Shut-Up Day (inspired by meditation retreats).
Kei: January 29 \u2014 Let’s make Jan 29th great again!
Paul: March 11 \u2014 Memorial Day (honoring the victims of the 2011 earthquake).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

🗣️ Prepared Speeches
Kazuya \u2014 “The Answer Was Inside Me” (Presentation Mastery L1)
Reflecting on a past teaching struggle and career transition, Kazuya reminded us not to ask “what am I missing?” but “what strengths do I already have to help others?”
Takako \u2014 “Evaluation” (Dynamic Leadership L1)
Through stories of share-houses, work mentoring, and dance, Takako shared a valuable mindset shift: instead of asking “how am I evaluated?”, ask “how can we collaborate?”
Carlos (Toshiki) \u2014 “Play” (Preparation of TI 2026 convention speech)
Rehearsing his contest speech, Carlos contrasted his tense competition mindset with his daughter’s joyful approach to her piano duet. His takeaway: don’t let trophies blind you to the power of playing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

👏 Evaluation Session
Hidenori praised Kazuya\u2019s relatable story structure and recommended adding specific visual details to build scenes.
Frank welcomed Takako back, praising her commanding voice and professional delivery, while suggesting strategic pauses for punchlines.
Rintaro commended Carlos\u2019s hilarious metaphors and stage presence, encouraging him to utilize stage height alongside width.
Role Reports: Daseul (Ah-Counter) noted an exceptionally clean meeting, while Grammarian Carlos delivered a rich report on vivid sensory language (laser-focused, razor sharp).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
