This meeting was a little different from our usual ones—and it turned out to be a very special one.
Our prepared speeches were delivered in both Japanese 🇯🇵 and English 🇺🇸.
Carlos, the winner of the English Speech Contest 🏆, delivered his winning speech by Japanese🇯🇵, while Frank—who will represent Otemachi Toastmasters Club in the Japanese Speech Contest—gave his speech in Japanese🇯🇵. We also enjoyed an English speech by Paul, adding even more variety and energy to the session 🎤
We also tried “subtle” (Word of Evening) different in Table Topics 💡
For the same question, Carlos went first, setting a strong benchmark once again as our contest winner. Then, two of our guests bravely stepped up and took on the same challenge 👏
It was fascinating to see how different perspectives and speaking styles emerged from the same question.
The evaluations were outstanding. Two veteran evaluators – Max and Naoko delivered their feedback in Japanese🇯🇵, offering honest and sometimes tough evaluations—with a clear focus on how to win at the Area Contest and beyond 🎯
Because today’s focus was fully on supporting the contestants, we also invited additional comments from other members and discussed together how each speech could be further polished and strengthened.
This learning experience was valuable not only for the contestants, but for everyone who joined the meeting 🤝
In the final business session, our President Frank announced the results of last week’s club contest, bringing the meeting to a strong and inspiring close 🔔
