2025/10/22 OTMC Meeting Report

Seasons change with the scenery 🍁, so does Otemachi Toastmasters Club welcoming new ideas and people. This week, we held a thrilling MOGMOG 3 Super Eval Session! 🗣️

The session was indeed fruitful! Hats off to Taka and EC members who spent days in preparation! 🙏🙏

First, Tips Master Carlos shared his “survival” strategy 🛡️ to remove the fear of giving evaluations. His key takeaway: “Survive now, succeed later.” 🚀 He stressed viewing the evaluation as a 90-second minimum speech ⏱️ focusing on “The one thing”! 🎯

The main session emphasized that evaluation is a mixture of art and technique 🎨:

1. Extracts “values” out of the speech. 💎
2. Motivates the speaker to do the speech again. 💪🔥

The meeting was structured into three parts:

1. Model Speech: Taka delivered his moving speech, “My Responsibility,” about making a life-changing decision for his mother. 💖
2. Evaluation: Four evaluators applied the techniques to Taka’s speech. 🎤
3. Evaluators of Evaluators: Four experienced members then evaluated the evaluators’ comments, completing the “Super Eval” cycle for maximum learning! 🔄

We also had a staggering seven fabulous guests—Janani, Tomoka, Keika, Misa, Koko, Takako, and Mizuki—all enthusiastic about learning public speaking! Welcome aboard! 👋
